JHP is happy to announce that we received a vision grant from The New York Council for the Humanities to continue our research into the life of our founder, Josephine Herrick. Josephine Herrick was an amazing woman who was an artist, philanthropist and businesswoman in the mid- 20th century. We have been finding out some amazing things. We recently received copies of a surveys she filled out as an alumna of Bryn Mawr and hundreds of pictures taken by her at Chautauqua Institute in the 1950s and 1960s. The grant will be used to bring together an advisory group that will search for more information about Josephine and decide on the content of a Josephine Herrick exhibition that will be part of our 75th anniversary celebrations next year.

The New York Council for the Humanities is dedicated to helping all New Yorkers lead vibrant intellectual lives by strengthening traditions of cultural literacy, critical inquiry, and civic engagement.
